In June 2006, DermaGen recruited Jan Alenfall as a full-time CEO. Dr Alenfall has 18 years experience within the pharmaceutical industry including Pharmacia, Ferring, Bioglan and SkyePharma, and most recently Probi.
DermaGen works with its major owner, Karolinska Development, utilizing the network that supports product development. As an active owner, Karolinska Development can offer a broad range of competences within pharmaceutical development, financing and commercial exit planning of projects.
During its first operational years DermaGen has adopted a conservative approach to building an organization. Initially the company functions as a virtual company in order to be cost- and time-efficient. Development activities primarily rely on the effective use of skilled consultants and experienced CRO´s, with discovery activities and early pre-CD work being performed in Drs. Schmidtchen´s and Malmsten´s laboratories.
